There is still some confusion as to when and where the name Juel appeared for Hans Christian Hansen, the father. Axel Eltzholtz wrote to me in January, 1973 and told me that Ditlev had a great wish that the name Eltzholtz should continue in Denmark, but Otto Eltzholtz was on the way to becoming an old bachelor and therefore something needed to be done. Ditlev wrote a letter to King Christian the X who gave the permission on November 30, 1922 to delete the Juel Hansen from the certificates of baptism so the Eltzholtz name continues in Denmark to this day.

.

Bill Eltzholtz (Photo circa: 1926 to 1930)

Bill (DollarBill) Eltzholtzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521868800953952360noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2436454711155604811.post-61023172264046171012007-08-21T22:37:00.000-07:002008-11-13T05:07:45.461-08:00Max Leo, Marie Louise and Gudrun Elly Eltzholtz

Bill (DollarBill) Eltzholtzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08521868800953952360noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2436454711155604811.post-75521738533676533552007-08-21T22:27:00.000-07:002008-11-13T05:07:45.599-08:00Carl Johan Eltzholtz and Hans Christian Hansen

Carl Johan Eltzholtz was born December 23, 1904 the second child of Marie Louise and Hans Christian Hansen. Ditlev sent out catalogues to his customers every year from 1865 - 1928 - 31. The Royal Library also had information regarding two books written by Ditlev; one about cultivations of tomatoes outdoors (1888), and one about sowing a grass field with a description of the most valuable clover and grass sorts (1885).

.

I asked Birgit to translate the catalog cover to English to make the reading a little easier for the American cousins including me. In the center at the far left is the family home where the business started, then the two seed houses that were built to handle the growth of the business. The cutaway of the newest seedhouse shows three levels of activity. Other pictures indicate the customer will receive products via wagon, rail or ship.
